The course covers the basic concepts associated with the structural design of buildings. Students will be introduced to structural theory, the behaviour of materials, the design of structural members, concepts in structural efficiency and structural assemblies and systems. The course is organized in three parts: structural theory members and systems, including columns, beams, frames, trusses and arches and structural steel construction.
