This course covers engineered wood products (EWP) using mass timber constructionas a reference point. The topics include framing using large panelized solid woodconstruction, such as cross-laminated timber (CLT) and nail laminated timber (NLT)panels, as well as glue laminated timber (glulam) and other forms of structuralcomposite lumber (SCL) for columns, beams, floor and wall framing. Hybrid wood-concreteand wood-steel construction will also be reviewed.The construction materials are examined as they relate to product manufacturing,properties, characteristics, types, function, uses, application, performance, fireresistance ratings, sustainable design principles and job-site installation procedures.
