This course is project oriented, drawing on information from other courses offered throughout the program. The projects require that small groups of students work together to solve typical mechanical engineering and automation problems. Projects will cover areas such as mechanical designs for factory automation, motor and motor controls and a variety of control projects including alarm system, electronic lock and batch reactor controls. This course will also cover sensor types, applications, wiring and troubleshooting as they relate to the automation industry. Key safety components such as lockout/tagout and electrical hazards are covered in the latter part of the course.
