Creative Writing 3: Refining the Story

In this course students further develop their knowledge of and facility with the prose forms of fiction and creative nonfiction. Through a series of lectures, assigned readings/listenings/viewings and instructor-moderated workshops, students acquire techniques and strategies for improving the quality of their prose. In addition to analyzing published works, students submit original stories to the workshop, where they refine their skills in offering and receiving editorial input. They also draw on course learnings from across the program to experiment with adapting and repurposing narratives for a variety of forms and media.
