Book Publishing Fundamentals

This fundamental course offers students an overview of both self-publishing and traditional publishing. Students will learn about the life cycle of a book - from conception to marketing. As well, they will explore the various roles in the in the industry, such as publicist, marketer, production manager and editor. Course materials will be explored through a variety of case studies, class presentations, and individual and group projects. As a final project, students will work in groups to create a catalogue for a fictious publishing company built upon their own vision.
