This course introduces students to the field of ghostwriting. It provides an overview of the many industries that rely on ghostwriting as well as approaches to the ghostwriting process. Throughout this writing-intensive course, students read and analyze ghostwritten works and then complete a wide range of ghostwriting assignments. Assignments span from crafting corporate social media content to writing speeches and developing television spec scripts. Students thereby learn how to lose concern for their personal voices, creating and revising work that mimics a multitude of clients. This course also investigates the ethics of ghostwriting, particularly in todays artificial intelligence-dominated marketplace.
