This first course focuses particularly on a critical understanding and appreciation of new, current and early classic television, largely in, but not limited to, the context of quality, public and critical reception and prevailing cultural climate. Additional context is provided by exposure to significant and influential early television, from live TV theatre to the template multi-camera sitcom. Emphasis is placed on the ability to coherently evaluate and comprehensively express opinion, verbally and textually.
