Visual Communication Design

Course Code: BDES 2001

Academic Year: 2024-2025

The course provides students with the experience of analyzing the visual artefacts of our contemporary culture and understanding the movements and ideological trends that have helped to shape that culture. Students explore how the application of design techniques can be used as a means to influence, bias, control, pacify, charm, delight, otherwise convey meaning. They examine both static and dynamic imagery (advertisements, photographs, films, and interactive media), as they broaden their understanding of the underlying principles of visual communication design. Students use the resulting knowledge in designing their own visual communications for different purposes.
