Design for Good

Course Code: BDES 4502

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This course explores opportunities to rethink traditional marketing, design and technology solutions to business problems, focusing instead on delivering value at the intersection of economic, social and environmental interests. Modern organizations are called upon to solve complex problems; doing more with less, while at the same time respecting social values such as equity, justice, health and sustainability. Traditional rules of business are being challenged, as corporations strive to design products, services and corporate cultures that inspire, include and reflect their customers' values. Students consider the historical context in which the discipline of design has helped reshape business, social and environmental innovation for a sustainable future. Students apply the tools and process of design to so-called "wicked" problems, developing design solutions that contribute to social good.
