As climate change and the cost and availability of materials become increasingly important to our local and global communities, there is an increasing need for knowledge and skills regarding the principles of sustainability in the built environment. This course addresses this need through a sustainable approach to the building practices. In this course students study contemporary theories of the environment informed by climate science, systems of measurement, geology, and life. Retrofit and renovation requirements will be compared and contrasted with those of new construction.
