Course Code: BFMP 2506
Academic Year: 2022-2023
The students gain an understanding of the basic principles of directing drama, particularly in the field of dramatic articulation related to functions and activities required for translating and transferring the script into the film. The course follows two intertwined learning streams: visual language - how to shape dramatic ideas into a film narrative, and performance - how to understand and work with actors. During in-class workshops, students learn the fundamentals of acting methods and techniques of communication between director and actor, using key acting terminology. The students learn and practise planning and preparation of effective narrative storytelling through writing a shooting script, creating storyboards, and an in-class dramatic scene team practice and presentation.
