Major Project Development

Course Code: BFMP 3501

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This course prepares students for the fourth-year capstone projects which are the culmination of the Bachelor of Film and Media Production program. Students will survey a range of appropriate capstone projects including but not limited to: short film scripts for production, experimental or documentary films, multimedia installations and individually-written film, television, web series or audio drama scripts or series proposals. During the semester students will work together and in teams to simulate the development process in the industry from initial ideas through to a polished pitch, while learning advanced story structure, financing and crowdfunding approaches, and techniques for visual pitching. Students will be encouraged to develop their creative voices and visions in a persuasive and articulate way, no matter their discipline of choice. At the end of the semester students will submit their proposals to faculty for approval. Depending on the nature of the project, these proposals may also be pitched to a jury.
