Film and Media Capstone 1

Course Code: BFMP 4000

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This course is the first of two resulting in the completion of a film or media project in order to meet degree requirements. Projects are developed during semester six of the program, and selected by a jury. In semester seven, capstone work undertaken by each student is carried out within the field of all the selected projects, and much of the work is self-directed, with faculty and students co-creating learning contracts and course content. Projects move through the final development, pre-production and production phases, with post-production to be completed in semester eight. Some projects are led by a primary artist, while others are collaborative in nature. All student contributions are identifiable and meet the criteria and scope of capstone work, with each student working in at least one significant creative, technical or managerial role, as well as several secondary roles. The course focuses on applied learning preparing students for entry into the professional world of film and media production. Students are mentored by course professors, and course content includes lectures, workshops, guest speakers, production meetings, and student presentations.
