This course provides students with an overview of Analytics, Big Data and Data Science. It includes an examination of the data life cycle - sourcing, preparation, storage & processing, modelling & programming, and analytics & insight - and an overview of the skills, knowledge, processes and major issues involved at each stage. This course also examines the legal, security and ethical issues that arise in data analytics and common resolutions. It introduces students to Canadian legislation, regulation and compliance codes that are directly associated with data privacy and security, and intellectual property rights, along with the code of ethics and standards of conduct for IT Professionals espoused by the Association of Information Technology Professionals.
