Gather, implementing, utilizing and sharing omics data can bring up difficult ethical dilemmas. Students identify key ethical issues at play including legal limits, privacy, protection of health information, and self-responsibility as they relate to employee's and employer's duty of care. The principles of respect for persons, justice, and beneficence are emphasized and the knowledge of ethics and legal issues and various stakeholders. The course prepares students to understand the implications of integrating Omics technology into preclinical and clinical research as well as GenEthical implications within healthcare.
