Course Code: BIOT 100
Academic Year: 2020-2021
This course introduces students to the underlying theoretical fundamentals in the field of microbiology. Students examine the structural, molecular, and physiological properties of microorganisms for the purposes of identification, characterization, manipulation, and application. Students learn about standard microbiological techniques including staining and microscopy, media preparation and culturing techniques, quantification of microbial populations, examination of physical and chemical factors affecting microbial growth, and methodologies used to isolate and identify common bacteria.
