Introduction to Chemistry

Course Code: BIOT 101

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This course provides students with a foundational understanding of structure and nature of matter and provides a foundation for further studies in applied chemistry. Students examine properties and characteristics of matter, chemical nomenclature, stoichiometry, proper terminology, properties of bonding, chemical reactions, VSEPR theory, chemical laws, molecular and ionic geometry, equilibria, acids, bases, pH, behaviour of gases and application is discussed. The learning experience is enhanced with practical exercises, which support hands-on complementary laboratories in the second semester.
