Chemical Techniques Laboratory 3

Course Code: BIOT 251

Academic Year: 2024-2025

In this course, students engage in advanced practical exercises in organic chemistry and nanotechnology, qualitative and quantitative analytical analyses, advanced chromatographic separations and purifications, and investigate solid-phase syntheses of biologically relevant molecules. Students acquire skills in the use of protection chemistry in complex syntheses, and use advanced spectroscopic methodologies to probe molecular structure and sample purity. As a capstone project, students take an integrative approach to develop and execute an experimental protocol to solve a multi-layered forensic problem invoking a number of chemical and biological techniques.
