Course Code: BIOT 252
Academic Year: 2020-2021
This course builds on the theoretical and practical concepts applied in Molecular Biology (BIOT 202) and Organic Chemistry (BIOT 204). Students acquire knowledge of the chemical structure, function, properties and metabolism of biomolecules (proteins, carbohydrate, fats and lipids). Students explore the role of nucleic acids in protein synthesis and the central pathways involved in the biosynthesis of macromolecular precursors. Students investigate integrated metabolism and biochemical controls of the fasting-feeding cycle.
