Introductory Cell Biology

Course Code: BMED 1000

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This theory and laboratory-based course introduces learners to the foundational concepts and principles of cell biology. Core concepts explored include cell structure, membrane transport, the cytoskeleton and cell movement, the extracellular matrix and cell-matrix and cell-cell interactions. Learners begin to explore the fundamentals of molecular biology, specifically heredity, and the structure and organization of genes before elaborating on DNA replication and protein synthesis in BMED1502.
