This course introduces learners to the structure, physical properties, and reactivity of organic molecules. This theory and laboratory-based course explores key concepts within the field of organic chemistry including, but not limited to, nomenclature, chemical bonding, conformational analysis, stereochemistry, resonance, aromaticity, NMR and IR spectroscopy, chemical reactions, and reaction mechanisms. Students develop and apply the skills required to design and predict the outcome of multistep reaction schemes for synthesizing target compounds.
