Course Code: CBPP 5012
Academic Year: 2021-2022
Canada is a small publishing market with long distances between dense consumer populations, so it is natural for the industry to look across borders to build a larger market for its work. Fortunately, Canada's strong international literary reputation has helped publishers and authors build books as one of the most successful Canadian cultural exports. This course examines international sales, including subsidiary rights sales. Key areas that will be covered include: the mechanics of selling internationally including attending book fairs; developing strategies and pitches; terms of licensing agreements; an overview of international book markets.
