This course will look critically at the family within a Canadian context to build an understanding of the dynamics of the family and its role in socializing children and youth. Current issues and challenges experienced by families will be examined in relation to how they impact the family, the individuals within it and the larger community. The effectiveness of community practices and approaches to working with families, children and youth will be explored and critiqued.
