This course introduces semiconductors, including the diode family, the bipolar junction, translator (BJT) familiar and the field effect translator (FET) family. Applications of these devices are examined including the full-wave capacitor-filtered rectifier, the BJT and FET switch and both small signal and power BJT amplifiers. RC passive filters are also introduced. It also introduces topics required for other courses in the embedded systems stream such as sensors, operational amplifiers, multi-vibrators, analog to digital converters and digital to analog converters.
