Physics and Statics

Course Code: CIVL 125

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Students learn fundamental concepts in engineering mechanics. Physics topics include Motion, Vectors, Newton's Laws, and a review of mathematical principles (scientific notation, significant figures, dimensional analysis, units and measuring systems). Students begin to apply the fundamentals of Statics (forces, equilibrium, and trusses) in preparation for more advanced courses in strengths of materials, structural analysis and design. Mastery of the basic principles is achieved through the problem-solving method.
