Students design and analyze horizontal and vertical alignments of highways and consider the factors that form constraints or influence the final positioning of roadways. Students examine many aspects of highway design including safety, drainage, roadbed structure, typical plans, superelevation and earth quantities. Students use a combination of manual methods and industry standard computer software to perform the required analyses and produce plans.
