Building on Systemic Discrimination and Crime (CRIM 4006), this course provides students with a deeper understanding of historical and current inequities that marginalize individuals and communities. Through inclusiveness and critical reflexivity, the course utilizes anti-colonial and decolonizing, anti-Native and Indigenous racism, anti-racism, anti-Black racism, anti-oppression, intersectionality, feminist, queer and cis/sexism, disability and equity to draw attention to the praxis. The course will further draw attention to current social resistance movements, activism, and allyship to disrupt discourse and enhance the lived experiences of equity seeking individuals, groups, and communities.
