Course Code: CSCS 1500

Academic Year: 2026-2027

Students explore the essential compThis course focuses on the fundamentals of data communication and networking. It will cover layered approach of ISO-OSI reference model and TCP/IP protocol suite. Protocols supporting data communication for both wired and wireless networks are also covered, demonstrating integrity and security features of TCP/IP protocol suite. Students use tools to capture frames from network traffic and analyze different protocols used in packet switched network. They also learn about different networking devices that operate at various TCP/IP protocol suite layers, routing and flow control protocols, designing network topologies, configuring them, and testing them for data communication.onents of the cybersecurity field, including its important terminologies, key concepts, and techniques. The course content includes security threats, how to analyze risks, the capacity of technical security tools and processes, and behavioural aspects that can reduce or mitigate the impact of risks. The course will also explore the best practices of practical procedures and techniques for securing information, applications, and infrastructure.
