Each day, we are overloaded with information about our world. We call this information the news. It tells us about events in our communities and cities and places we've never been. We share the news virtually over social networks and in person with our friends and loved ones. Yet we do this without giving much critical thought about where the news comes from, who produces it and how our intake shapes our worldview. This course will examine how we consume the news and analyze how it is produced. We will ask if we even need the news or do we ignore it at our own peril.
