Introduction to Child and Youth Care Professional Practice

This course is an introduction to the professional and personal skills that are expected of child and youth care practitioners in the field. Topics include ethical practice, self-awareness and constructive use of clinical supervision. Students will also become familiar with the process of choosing their second and third program internships and be able to practise responding effectively in an interview situation. An important objective for this course is for students to begin to assess, develop and evaluate goals regarding their own personal and professional growth. This course is a prerequisite for CYC 159 and CYC 161.
