Course Code: CYC 218

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Child and Youth Care practitioners utilize practices that can be applied in a variety of settings and situations in order to facilitate growth in children and youth. Central to this course is building on the foundations developed in Relational Practice 1 by focusing on practical approaches to care. Students are invited to think about working in Child and Youth care in an intentional and holistic manner, so that their approaches are carefully considered in the context of the child, youth, family, environment and community. Students also consider their own life experiences and style of relational child and youth care practice in terms of how this intersects with the practical applications of the work. Personal views and standpoints and influence on principles of practice are evaluated. Available evidence-based practices are highlighted and practical application is central to the experience of the course.
