This course introduces students to the basics of digital communication design and strategies for presenting and reflecting on their work. Starting with key foundations of design, including typography, colour, shape, and layout, the course next gives students the chance to put these basics to use in projects that reflect common digital applications, such as web sites, apps, and social media campaigns. The studio format allows for ample opportunity to workshop essential collaboration and revision skills. Throughout, students learn to build digital communications work that is accessible, responsive to different formats and screens, and mindful of user experience. By the end of the course, students will have created a standout collection of digital portfolio items to add, along with work from other classes, to a final online portfolio .
