Spanning from ancient times to the contemporary moment, this course surveys the history of furniture, interiors, and architecture with a primary focus on style eras from the Western world, as well as culturally diverse design traditions. Exploring the important spaces, objects and decorative motifs that continue to influence decor today, students will build a solid foundation of historical knowledge upon which to draw design inspiration.
