This course introduces students to the field of developmental disabilities in Ontario from multiple perspectives. Students will examine the historical and current context of support systems for people with developmental disabilities, including key legislation and policies that inform these services. The course emphasizes the role of the Developmental Services Worker in promoting and supporting inclusion, empowerment, and meaningful participation in all aspects of society across the lifespan of people with developmental disabilities and their families, with a focus on inclusive education and employment.
