This course is designed to introduce students to electronic circuits and devices that are commonly found in the electrical field. It also provides an introduction to semiconductors, including the diode family, thyristors and op-amps. The course is delivered in a lab/lecture format. DC power supplies, including half and full wave rectifiers, capacitive filtering, load voltage regulation and the characteristics and applications of SCRs, TRIACs and DIACs, will be presented. The operating characteristics and applications of op-amps will also be examined.
