The course builds on the content of introduction to event planning and event design and production, providing the students with the opportunity to plan and execute an event for a client. The course reinforces the creativity, decision-making, communication, event management, financial, and team work skills necessary to successfully conceptualize, develop, plan, execute, and evaluate an event. Working in committees, students will undertake the tasks necessary to successfully plan and execute their event, including: writing and/or creating a response for an event based on client requirements, developing a critical path, preparing event documentation, budget preparation and tracking, decor, social media, design & graphics, media, venue & production (A/V) coordination, entertainment, food & beverage management, event marketing & promotion, and event debrief and evaluation. This course provides students with a real-life, hands-on event coordination experience.
