The environment of weddings and getting married has altered dramatically. Today's couples are diverse and their wants, needs and expectations for their weddings are sophisticated. This course introduces students to the business of weddings. Looking through an event management lens and the five phases of event management, the fundamentals of wedding planning are discussed and the unique challenges involved with weddings compared to other types of events. This course includes the historical and cultural influences, impacts of technology, family dynamics, diversity, inclusion and media influences. For those interested in wedding planning, this course will spark both your curiosity and creativity while establishing the foundation that wedding planning is a business.
