Building on the knowledge and skills acquired in Canadian Securities 1, students expand and refine the professional competencies required for investment and/or financial planning careers in the financial services industry. Students conduct a technical analysis of the financial health of companies and compare the company to industry standards to determine the expected return and risk of investing in the company. Students explore specialized investment products to identify situations where such products should be recommended to clients. Students learn the advantages of investing in a portfolio.After successful completion of the course, students should choose to sit an examination set by the Canadian Securities Institute for licensing purposes, a prerequisite for entering the financial services industry. In combination with Canadian Securities 1, students prepare for investment and/or financial planning careers in the financial services industry.
