This course is meant to assist students in preparing for investment and/or financial planning careers in the financial services industry. This course (along with FIN 4112 - Canadian Investment Regulations 2) prepares students wanting to take the Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE) administered by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) for licensing purposes. It also aligns with the Investment Planning material required in the CFP, QAFP and Chartered Financial Planner exams. In this course, students will come to understand the various financial markets and become familiar with corporations and their financial structures. Further, they will analyze and interpret corporate financial statements and distinguish between debt and equity instruments and their financing methods.
