This theory based course introduces students to a broad range of firefighting foundational concepts, including fire behaviour, building construction, tool & small engine use, personal protective clothing & equipment, ropes and knots, ground ladders, water supply, fire hoses, fire streams, fire control and loss control activities. These core elements are further developed into applied skills in the subsequent Firefighter Basics Applied course.
