This course explores the fundamentals of mid-rise and hi-rise building construction, types of structures, and structure designs, as well as the impact of building construction on fire fighting. Students will study the forces that impact these structures and the codes applied to buildings and fire safety. They will also learn how mid and hi-rise buildings are constructed and how fire behaves with various building materials. Students will also study the potential impact solar power systems and other alternative energy sources on fire fighting.
