Trends In Fire Science Technologies

Course Code: FRSE 245

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Students discover emerging and innovative technology and information systems used by Fire Services today for supporting fire prevention and preparedness planning, public education campaigns, resource deployment optimization, communications, and record keeping. Students explore the use of technologies such as Geographical Information Systems (GIS), mobile data systems, digital technologies, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), and record keeping. Using technology and information systems also supplies the Fire Service with a highly valuable asset: data. By applying industry standards, including NFPA 1710/1720 and the OFM Integrated Risk Model, students learn how data can be used for assessing risk, managing performance and predicting outcomes for informed decision making.
