Introduction to the Incident Management System, introduces the Incident Management System (IMS) and provides the foundation for higher level IMS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Management System. It also provides an Introduction to Scene Management and the Emergency Operations Centre. The course also focuses on the coordinated efforts that are required to respond quickly and effectively to abroad range of emergencies from pandemics, to terrorist attacks to natural, man-made and deliberately planned disasters. Students focus on case studies and problem-based learning. Guest speakers will provide students with a practical perspective of the various emergency response roles as well as detail the importance of Interaction of responders at the scene.
