Vascular Embalming and Practicum

Course Code: FSE 113

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This course provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the type and amount of each of the chemicals used in vascular embalming. A detailed analysis of vessel selection, the various injection methods, distribution and diffusion of fluids throughout the body, pressure requirements and resistances will be discussed. Finally, recognizing that even though the best approach may have been used, there may be unknown/unforeseeable circumstances within the body that lead to embalming failure. Thus, the concept of embalming failure will be discussed along with strategies for what to do when/if it happens. The practicum portion of this course provides learners with hands-on learning opportunities in an embalming lab.
