Special events are an integral part of the fundraising mix. In this course, students are introduced to effective models of event management, research tools and the feasibility of events. Students will learn to prepare budgets; select appropriate venues; explore suitable activities and tactics; develop a sponsorship package; and select appropriate evaluation techniques. Through lectures, scenarios and individual and group study, students learn to recognize an organization's readiness for fundraising events and examine the role special events can play in marketing and branding an organization. Students will also explore new innovation in fundraising for charities social enterprises, virtual events and more.
