Course Code: GCHS 101
Academic Year: 2026-2027
This course provides learners with a fundamental understanding of the structure and characteristics of matter, and how its transformations relate to the health-sciences and our everyday lives. Students will explore concepts including the properties of matter and how they are measured, atomic and molecular structure, chemical reactions and stoichiometry, solution chemistry, and gas laws, while emphasizing skills such as collaboration, professionalism, and safe lab practices. These topics will be emphasized through laboratory experiments and health-focused examples of their applications in life sciences.
