Introduction to Intercultural Communications

Course Code: GCOM 150

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Students learn the definition of culture and are introduced to inter-cultural communication theories (for example, differences in gestures, personal spaces, and customs). By identifying intercultural issues in North American society, we are going to discuss how we can apply these theories to our daily lives and how we can respect and understand each other. The main objective of this course is that students will feel comfortable in communicating with people from different origins. As part of the course, students will communicate with people from other cultures electronically and in person. This course will be of interest to workers in health, education, human service and business as well as those people who just want to communicate more effectively with those from other cultures.
