God, Science and Religion

Course Code: HUMA 250

Academic Year: 2024-2025

The advances of modern science pose many challenges to our lives. New scientific theories, such as evolution and quantum theory, make us see ourselves and the world in a different way. Where does the universe come from? Does it require a creator to bring it into existence? This scientific age seems to demand a different attitude towards life and the world than the traditional religious approach of faith. The historical roots of these different approaches will be examined by looking at important figures in this controversy. This course will also examine the religious implications raised by new scientific theories and discoveries.
