This course introduces financial accounting and performance measurement metrics specific to the P&C insurance industry. Emphasis will be on the use of internal financial, underwriting, claims and sales data to derive performance measurement metrics used in the P&C insurance industry to assist management in operational and strategic decision-making and planning.Students will be introduced to key accounting, financial and industry terms and concepts along with basic financial analysis of the income statement, balance sheet and statement of changes in financial position, and financial ratio analysis. P&C insurance industry KPI and performance measurement metrics will be introduced and their derivation and use will be demonstrated and explored.
