This course presents a comprehensive analysis of current Ontario occupational health and safety legislation as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Within this act, various regulations are studied including those addressing employment standards, hazardous materials, respiratory protection program, sharps injury prevention program and others. The new Integrated Occupational Health and Safety Strategy for Ontario is examined for learners to understand the roles and responsibilities of OHS within their organizations. Students examine the application of the legislation and review the roles and responsibilities of government, employers, unions, and workers. The root causes of various workplace health concerns and hazards are explored in order to establish correlations to incident control and/or prevention.
